Looking for an OTC pain reliever that ISN’T an NSAID?
Question by Boo: Looking for an OTC pain reliever that ISN’T an NSAID?
Is there such a thing? Or maybe even an herbal treatment. Just need something for headaches but can’t take NSAID pain relievers.
Thanks
I’m sorry, I should add that I don’t want to take Tylenol either. I have elevated liver enzymes and I’d just prefer to take something that won’t effect my liver.

If my joint pain isnt arthritis what is it?
Question by SweetD: If my joint pain isnt arthritis what is it?
I am 25 and started having knee pain about 5 years ago when I went into the army. Over the next five years other joints have started hurting. Like my elbows, shoulders, and hips. My doctor did a blood test and it said negative for arthritis. Could it still be? Or what else could it be? They hurt even when I am not working out.

Joint pain that isn’t arthritis?
Question by Existential Blues: Joint pain that isn’t arthritis?
I started having joint pain after some medication I was on for a month. I went to a doctor, and she did some blood tests. Everything came out normal, and, instead of looking further into it, she just tried to give me some drugs to take twice a day, which I am so not going to do. This is the usual response I get from doctors. Do blood tests, they come out normal, here’s some drugs! So I don’t want to go back to another doctor. The joint pain comes and goes, but it usually comes back around the time my period is about to start. It hurts to walk, and I can’t do the stuff I would like when my joints get like this. If it’s not arthritis, what could it be? I take a multi-vitamin every day and eat pretty healthy. Even if you have no clue what it could be, what is something I could take or eat that will help? Meaning supplements or vitamins, not pain medications and stuff.
I do retain water before my period! Why does water retention cause joint pain?

Start taking some glucosamine Chondroitin every day. I have Fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis and my doctor suggested it. You have to take it for awhile to notice any difference. Also it’s important to get 8 hours of sleep every night. Go to bed at the same time, give yourself some time to unwind. Eat iron rich foods.
It’s too bad they stopped looking, many things cause joint pain, lupus, RA, osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia, Lyme disease, parvo-virus B19, just to name a few and if they don’t know what they are testing for, that might not be included in the blood work up. Depression and anemia can cause pain too.
I do take pain meds when necessary and take a pill for sleeping too.
The reason it comes back at period time is probably due to water retension.
