The Truth About Herbal Treatment For Arthritis
If you are anything like me a few years ago you are only interested in the answer to the question if a herbal treatment for arthritis will work for you or not. The pain and stiffness caused by arthritis can be so severe that you are willing to do anything in your power to get rid of it or at least reduce it to a minimum. If you are anything like me you are willing to buy everything, even herbs, IF you can be convinced that a herbal treatment for arthritis will work for you, but will it work?
My personal reason for trying a herbal treatment
Some of you will understand when I tell you that a few years ago, one morning I stumbled out of bed, I was in pain, I was nauseous from the medicine and I was angry. In fact I was very angry. I was taking these medicine that where suppose to work while in fact I was experiencing severe pain and I was also feeling sick from the arthritis drugs. It was at that moment I decided to look at alternatives and herbal treatment for arthritis was one of those alternatives.
A reasonable normal life was my goal, I wanted to be able to lift my grandchildren in my arms, I wanted to be able to go to work and help my wife with jobs around the house. When I looked on the internet I realized that I was not the only one who was considering herbs in fact it was a very popular treatment, I found that herbs are often a very safe way to deal with arthritis and can help in many different ways to relief the symptoms. The only thing I could not find was exactly which herbs I could use.
Herbs for Arthritis
After a while of doing research online and in the library I found that the following herbs could be an effective herbal treatment for arthritis:
- feverfew
- devil’s claw
- black cohosh
- red pepper
- ginger
Feverfew has been used for years as a herbal treatment for arthritis. This herb is known for its anti-inflammatory effects which makes it so successful in the treatment.
Another great anti-inflammatory agent is the popular herb for treating arthritis called devil’s claw. It is also used in the very popular natural arthritis pain relief medication from Native Remedies.
Black cohosh is an American Indian herb that has been used for arthritis. Black cohosh is very effective because it contains a kind of aspirin this will reduce the swelling and inflammation.
It is not my personal favorite but some people also recommend the use of red pepper as a herbal treatment for arthritis. It works by interfering the pain perception and it triggers the body to release endorphins.
Ginger can be used as a tea or made into a pulp and applied to the painful spots. It also offers a safe and natural treatment to deal with your arthritis
The truth?
The truth about using a herbal treatment for arthritis is that you will loose the horrible side effects of the conventional arthritis drugs, and in most cases herbs will help you to get your life back. Personally I found that some herbal treatments work better than others and because I talked to a lot of other arthritis patients I know that they have experienced the same. In the end I feel much better with the herbs I use but I realize that you need to try it yourself and learn by trial and error what herbs will work for you.

Has anybody had any luck with fibromyalgia treatments without going broke in the process?
Question by CSmom: Has anybody had any luck with fibromyalgia treatments without going broke in the process?
I’ve had fibromyalgia since 1991 and have been treated with P.T., medications (tramadol, elavil, clonopin, & lorab), stretching, massage therapy (when I can afford it), and some biofeedback. My neck and back are so tied in knots it feels like concrete. My current regiman barely gets me by. I have worked steadily since diagnosed, and done some pretty physical type jobs. I do believe staying active is much better than laying around feeling sorry for myself. It helps me take my mind off of the pain if I keep busy. I couldn’t afford to live on disability even if I wanted to, lol.
I have tried tens units, and water aerobics/therepy without any relief.
I am curious about yoga being a possible help to me.
